All-New, All-Different Avengers Teaser

Marvel sure knows how to get everyone talking! This cover for the Free Comic Book Day issue of The All-New, All-Different Avengers is our first glimpse at the post Secret Wars Avengers line up. So far we have the soon to be unmasked new Thor (YAY!) and my favourite new hero of the past few years, Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan (Double YAY!!) confirmed for the team. Then in an interesting move all the male characters are silhouetted to provoke speculation, finger pointing and mass hysteria amongst comic book fans.

So here is my take on who the remaining team members are.

Marvel’s Phase 1 & 2 – A Look Back

This video is basically 5 minutes of Marvel saying, “Hey look at how awesome we are at making Comic Book Movies!” But it is five very good minutes of Marvel showing how much they have achieved with their films over the past six years and that they are only just getting started.

Fair warning though at the end there is a mild spoiler for something that happens in Guardians of the Galaxy so if you haven’t watched it yet (and why haven’t you watched Guardians yet?!) stay clear until you do.

Very, very, very belated awesomeness of the week

I will get this site back on track. I will get this site back on track…

Avengers: Age of Ultron Teaser!

UPDATE 2: I have come across another release of the teaser, hopefully this one will stay around a bit longer!

UPDATE: Damn Marvel are quick! It seems they are taking any and all versions of the video!

Hey look it’s the teaser for the Avengers sequel they showed at Comic Con this year!

It’s a teaser. It teases. It teases well!

Also it looks like Tony Stark will be the guy behind the creation of Ultron in the Marvel Cinematic Universe which fits perfectly with that version of the character and his arc over his three films and The Avengers.

One thing that does need to happen in Avengers: Age of Ultron though is Cap shouting “AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!” as they all charge into the big, epic and beautiful final battle. We were denied it in the first film for plausible reasons (they only “became” The Avengers at the end of the film) but if it does not happen in the sequel I will be hurt. Very hurt.

Awesomeness of the Week

This past week was a light (number wise) but great (content wise) week for comic books, especially of the Batman variety!

Picks of the Week

Superman #15 & All-New X-Men #5

As you can see I decided to make a slight tweak to the header images for these posts. To put them together I use an app on my iPad called Pic Stitch to quickly make them. I then use iCloud and Photostream to get them on my laptop/desktop to put into the final posts (mainly because the WordPress App is….well….a bit naff). The problem is though that I am stuck with the layouts Pic Stitch offers and as a result the past few Picks of the Week posts have had good but squashed headers. Which I both liked and hated at the same time! So after a bit of thought and fiddling I have come to a¬†compromise¬†as to how I put the images together. Basically smaller header text, bigger boxes for the images and keeping the black borders for the¬†screen grabs¬†of the covers so they fit in the box.

Anyway, on to the comic books!

The first proper week’s worth of comics for the year has been a rather good one with both of the big two coming out strong. Over at DC crossover mayhem continues as both H’el on Earth and Death of the Family continue. At Marvel their Marvel NOW! initiative continues to surprise and¬†enthral¬†with a strong line up of great books, there are a few duds however but in the grand scheme of things I feel the good books far¬†outweigh¬†the bad.

So let’s get on with the reviews!

A WARNING though, there will be SPOILERS!

Oh and I will share my thoughts on Amazing Spider-Man #700 soon. I just need to find the time to go through it all again first!
